The diamante citron fruit is the most celebrated citrus in Calabria by well-known poets such as Byron and D'Annunzio. The Cedro Di Diamante has a unique quality of being a non-acid citrus that is fresh and sweet, often used for culinary purposes. At one point in the 80s, it was almost abandoned by perfumers for its highly illicit content of furocoumarins. With the innovative abstraction technology, the oil is now extracted without furocoumarins, and bans were lifted.
